Tufts University doctoral student Rümeysa Öztürk on Saturday arrived in her home state of Massachusetts after she was snatched by masked federal agents near her home and spent six weeks in ICE detention as part of the Trump administration’s effort to deport noncitizens who have spoken out against the war in Gaza.

A federal judge had ordered the government to immediately release Rumeysa Ozturk, who was being held in a federal facility in Louisiana.

Tufts students say they are grateful that Rumeysa Ozturk was freed on bail and could return to campus. Channel 5's GM released a statement saying the station and its parent company require employees "to adhere to the highest ethical standards."
