LOS ANGELES – A shooting occurred in Santa Monica on June 25, blocks away from the city's famed pier, according to the Santa Monica Police Department. The department said that in a post on X that the shooting occurred near Santa Monica Place, the capstone mall of the Third Street Promenade shopping district.

A suspect remains at large after an officer was hurt in a shooting at an outdoor Santa Monica shopping mall in Southern California, police said Wednesday afternoon.

The Santa Monica Police Department confirmed around 1:45 p.m. that it was "actively managing" an ongoing incident near Santa Monica Place, located near 4th Street and Colorado Avenue. An officer with the department was injured during the incident. Their condition was not immediately revealed, and it's not clear what caused the officer's injuries.
