Amazon MGM Studios announced earlier this year that it had gained creative control over the Bond franchise after a family had held those duties for more than 60 years.

No one has been cast as 007, but the French Canadian filmmaker has been tapped by the franchise's new producers to launch a new era.

Denis Villeneuve is going from Dune to 007. The filmmaker has been tapped to direct the next James Bond movie, the first from Amazon MGM Studios. Tanya Lapointe, Villeneuve’s artistic partner and wife, will serve as an executive producer, along with Villeneuve. As previously announced, Amy Pascal and David Heyman will serve as producers.
