Despite a "lower profit margin" on Switch 2, Nintendo says "it will not be easy" to maintain the console's momentum after launch
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has said the low sales prediction for the Nintendo Switch 2 is due to the console's high price point.
"Nintendo Switch 2 is priced relatively high compared to Nintendo Switch, so we recognise that there are corresponding challenges to early adoption," Furukawa stated. "That being said," he continued, "Nintendo Switch 2 can play compatible Nintendo Switch software, so there is continuity between the platforms".
David Gibson of MST FInancial revealed that the Switch 2 unit price based on Vietnam customs data is close to its $ 450 retail price.
